Lesson: Case I Recovery
Phase 1: Lecture
Overview & Purpose
Student will view powerpoint presentations in preparation for Case I practical.
Education Standards
- Student will be taught all related patterns and altitudes.
- Student will be taught all Case I related comms.
- Student will be taught how to land on the carrier deck.
Objectives
- Student will prepare, study and practice for Case I practical.
Verification
- Mentor will loosely quiz student regarding procedures, altitudes etc.
- Mentor will ensure the student has all necessary study aides to prepare for practical.
Phase 2: Practical
Overview & Purpose
Utilization of all taught skills to successfully recover on the USS George Washington.
Education Standards
- Student will depart Marshall airspace using appropriate departure comms until free of the CCA.
- Student will re-enter the CCA making contact with marshall until commencement.
- Student will perform the overhead break resulting in a successful trap.
Objectives
- Launch and depart marshall airspace.
- Reenter CCA following descent profiles until marshall stack.
- Enter Marshall stack until charlie signal.
- Commence for overhead break and groove.
- Successful bolter pattern.
- Successful trap.
Verification
- Minimum of 2 mentors required for control of the boat.
- Mentors will verify successfully comm usage.
- Mentors will asses students need before CQ recomendation.
- Tolerances - Altitude - +/- 100 feet agl. Speed - +/- 25 knots.
Activity
If extra mentors are available, fly wing with student so extra comms steps may be practiced. Mentor will provide no support for student.
